કરમસદ	In 1211, Aja Patel, originally from Hilod (a town near Adalaj), came over and settled here. Because of his skills, agricultural production increased and the village prospered.
સામુદાયિક વિકાસ ખંડ	The community development programme was launched on a pilot basis in 1952 to provide for a substantial increase in the country’s agricultural programme, and for improvements in systems of communication, in rural health and hygiene, and in rural education. The community development programme was rapidly implemented. In 1956, by the end of the first five year plan period, there were 248 blocks, covering around a fifth of the population in the country. By the end the second five year plan period, there were 3,000 blocks covering 70 per cent of the rural population. By 1964, the entire country was covered.
કરમસદ	Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of India's greatest leaders in the Indian Independence Movement grew up in Karamsad. It was also the home of his elder brother Vithalbhai Patel, who was also an important political leader. The Patel brothers lived with their two elder brothers and one younger brother and sister, and parents Jhaverbhai and Ladba Patel in a mud-brick house adjacent to his family's farm holdings. This house is preserved to date as a memorial to Patel. The birth date of Karamsad or when Karamsad came into existence is not exactly known, but during the era of Kumarpal i.e. in 1155A.D., the village consisted mainly of people from Koli and other backward tribes. This community lacked proper agricultural skills. Because of this, they used to rob, steal or work as servants if opportunity permitted.
અણ્ણા હઝારે	અણ્ણા હઝારે realized that the only way to increase agricultural production in a sustainable manner was to build a better irrigation system. Taking into account the geographical location of Ralegan , located in the foothills, અણ્ણા હઝારેpersuaded villagers to construct a watershed embankment to stop water and allow it to percolate and increase the ground water level. He motivated the residents of the village into "shramdan" (voluntary labour) to build canals, small-scale check-dams and percolation tanks in the nearby hills for watershed development; efforts that solved the problem of scarcity of water in the village that also made irrigation possible. The first embankment that was built using volunteer efforts developed a leak and had to be reconstructed this time with government funding.
ઈન્દિરા ગાંધી	ઈન્દિરા ગાંધી અને ખરેખર તો તમામ ભારતીય રાજકારણીઓ જેમના પર અતિશય આધારિત છે તે શહેરી રહેવાસીઓને વિપુલ પ્રમાણમાં અને સસ્તા ભાવે અનાજ મળી રહે તે માટે 1960ના દાયકાના પૂર્વાધમાં ઈન્ટેન્સ એગ્રીકલ્ચરલ ડિસ્ટ્રીકટ પ્રોગ્રામ (Intense Agricultural District Program - IADP), જેને અનૌપચારિક રીતે હરિયાળી ક્રાંતિ નામ આપવામાં આવ્યું હતું, તે શરૂ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. આ કાર્યક્રમમાં મુખ્ય ચાર બાબતો પર ભાર મૂકવામાં આવ્યો હતોઃ 1) બીજની નવી જાતો, 2) ભારતીય કૃષિમાં રસાયણો, દા.ત. રસાયણિક ખાતરો, જંતુનાશકો, નીંદણનાશકો, વગેરે-ની આવશ્યકતા અંગે સ્વીકાર, 3) નવી અને અત્યારે ઉપલબ્ધ બીજમાંથી સુધારેલા બીજની જાતો વિકસાવવા માટે, રાષ્ટ્રીય અને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સહયોગથી સંશોધન માટેની પ્રતિબદ્ધતા, 4) ભૂમિ સહાય કૉલેજોના રૂપમાં વૈજ્ઞાનિક, કૃષિ સંસ્થાઓ વિકસાવવાનો વિચાર. દસ વર્ષ ચાલેલા આ કાર્યક્રમના કારણે છેવટે ઘઉંનું ઉત્પાદન ત્રણગણું બન્યું હતું, ચોખાના ઉત્પાદનમાં પ્રમાણમાં ઓછો છતાં ખાસ્સો વધારો થયો હતો; જયારે બાજરી-જુવાર-ચણા અને બજરી જેવા એકદળીય અનાજોમાં બહુ ઓછો અથવા તો નહિવત્ વધારો જોવા મળ્યો હતો (ક્ષેત્રફળ અને વસતિ વધારાની ગણતરીએ), અલબત્ત ખરેખર આ પાકોની પ્રમાણમાં સારી એકધારી ઉપજ મળી શકી હતી.
